OnePane user guide
Last updated September 24, 2026 · Weather places per widget, refresh buttons, unlimited notes
Getting started
- Go to onepane.page/app and choose Create account.
- Enter your email and a password (at least 10 characters, including a number).
- Type in the 6-digit code we email you from no-reply@onepane.page. If it doesn't arrive within a minute, check your spam or junk folder.
- You'll land on your start page with a clock, weather, news, notes and bookmarks ready to go. Add a calendar with + Add widget.
Make it your browser home page
| Chrome | Settings → On startup → Open a specific page → add https://onepane.page/app/. For the home button: Settings → Appearance → Show home button. |
|---|---|
| Safari | Settings → General → Homepage → https://onepane.page/app/, and set "New windows open with" to Homepage. |
| Edge | Settings → Start, home, and new tabs → Open these pages → add the address. |
| Firefox | Settings → Home → Homepage and new windows → Custom URLs → add the address. |
You stay signed in on each browser for up to 30 days at a time.
Working with widgets
Your page is made of widgets. Each one has its own settings.
Add a widget
Click + Add widget at the top. Pick a widget on the left to see a live preview, then click Add. You can add the same widget more than once, such as two clocks in different time zones.
Change a widget
Click the ⚙ in the widget's top-right corner. From there you can change its settings, its size (Auto, Small, Medium, Half, Large or Full width), move it earlier or later on the page, or remove it.
Refresh a widget
Widgets with live information (Weather, News, Calendar, Outlook, Aviation Weather and Notes) have a ↻ button beside the ⚙. Click it to get the latest right away. They also refresh on their own every 10 minutes.
Rearrange widgets
Grab the ⠿ handle beside a widget's name and drag it where you want it. The other widgets make room as you go, and the new layout saves when you let go. Works with a mouse, trackpad or touch screen.
Saving
Everything saves to your account automatically. The top bar shows Saving… then Saved. Sign in on any computer and your page looks the same.
Clock
Settings: Digital or Analog, 12- or 24-hour, show seconds, and show the date. Analog clocks show the digital time and date under the dial.
Several time zones in one clock: under Time zones, click + Add for each place, pick its zone and give it a label (for example "London office"). With the widget's size set to Auto, the clock gets wider as you add zones.
UTC and fixed offsets: the zone list starts with UTC and fixed offsets from UTC−12 to UTC+14. Fixed offsets never change for daylight saving, so for a city's local time pick the city instead (for example America/Toronto).
Weather
Shows current conditions and a forecast (3 to 7 days) for your places.
- Add places in ⚙ Preferences → Your places: type an address or town and click Look up.
- Choose places per widget: in the widget's ⚙, tick the places it should show. Leave them all unticked to show every place.
- Layout: One featured shows a full forecast for one place with the others listed underneath (click any place to feature it). Side by side shows a compact tile for each place.
- More than one Weather widget: add another from + Add widget, for example one for home and work, another side by side for family in other cities.
- Current location: turn it on in Preferences, or tick it in a widget's places. Your browser asks permission the first time.
- Choose °C or °F in Preferences → Display.
Calendar
Shows your upcoming events from one or more calendars: today, tomorrow and the days ahead. Events happening right now are highlighted, and each calendar gets its own colour.
Click ⚙ and add a row for each calendar (as many as you like). Give each one a name, an optional colour, and paste its subscription link (an address ending in .ics or starting with webcal://). You can also choose how many days ahead to show, the maximum number of events, and whether to show locations. Events refresh every 10 minutes.
With two or more calendars, a row of coloured labels appears at the top of the widget. Click a label to hide or show that calendar's events.
Apple Calendar (iCloud)
- In the Calendar app on your Mac, Control-click the calendar in the sidebar and choose Share Calendar…
- Tick Public Calendar, click Copy Link (it starts with
webcal://), then click Done.
Or on iCloud.com: Calendar → the share icon beside the calendar → Public Calendar → Copy Link. This works for iCloud calendars, not calendars stored "On My Mac". A public link is long and hard to guess, but anyone who has it can view that calendar.
Google Calendar
- Open calendar.google.com on a computer → ⚙ Settings.
- Under Settings for my calendars, pick the calendar → Integrate calendar.
- Copy the Secret address in iCal format.
Google only refreshes these links every few hours, so new events can take a while to appear.
Outlook.com and Microsoft 365
- In Outlook on the web, open ⚙ Settings → Calendar → Shared calendars.
- Under Publish a calendar, choose the calendar and Can view all details, then click Publish.
- Copy the ICS link.
Some work accounts don't allow publishing. If you don't see the option, your IT department has turned it off.
Outlook mail & calendar
Two widgets for Outlook.com, Hotmail and Microsoft 365 (work or school) accounts:
- Outlook Mail: your latest inbox messages with the unread count. Unread messages are shown in bold with a blue dot. Click a message to open it in Outlook.
- Outlook Calendar: your upcoming events, grouped by day. Click an event to open it in Outlook.
Connect your account
- Add the widget with + Add widget, then click Connect Microsoft account.
- A Microsoft sign-in window opens. Pick your account and approve read-only access. If nothing opens, allow pop-ups for onepane.page.
Settings (⚙): how many messages to show, unread only, a preview line; for the calendar, how many days ahead, the maximum number of events, locations, and whether to include events marked Free.
You connect once and it works on every computer where you use OnePane. One connection serves both widgets. If you add the second widget later, click Allow access to let OnePane read that too.
- Reconnect prompts: you'll only see Reconnect if you change your Microsoft password, remove OnePane's access, or don't open OnePane for about 90 days. One click signs you back in.
- Work accounts: some companies require IT approval for new apps. If you see "Need admin approval", ask your IT department to approve OnePane.
- Disconnect: click Disconnect at the bottom of either widget. That disconnects both. To remove OnePane's access completely, visit account.live.com/consent/Manage (personal accounts) or myapplications.microsoft.com (work accounts).
News
Headlines from the sources you choose, newest first. Use the buttons at the top of the widget to show one source at a time.
To change sources, click ⚙ and add any RSS or Atom feed address. Most news sites list theirs on a page called "RSS" or "Feeds". Examples:
- CBC Top Stories:
https://www.cbc.ca/webfeed/rss/rss-topstories - CBC Business:
https://www.cbc.ca/webfeed/rss/rss-business
Notes
A journal of quick notes. Type in the box at the top and press Enter to add a note (Shift+Enter starts a new line). Notes are stamped with the time and grouped by day: Today, Yesterday, and earlier dates.
- Mark done: tick the box beside a note to strike it out. Untick to bring it back.
- Edit or delete: click ✎ or ✕ at the right of a note. When editing, press Enter to save or Esc to cancel.
- How far back: in ⚙, choose Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Everything.
- Height: in ⚙, choose Short, Medium, Tall or Extra tall. Longer lists scroll inside the widget.
- Search: type in Search all notes to find any note, however old.
- Export: click Export to download all your notes as a text file grouped by day.
- There's no limit on how many notes you keep. They're saved to your account and show up on all your devices.
Mac users: turn on "Send to Apple Notes" in ⚙ to add a ↗ button on each note, which copies it into Apple Notes using a Shortcut. Setting up the Shortcut (one time):
- In Apple Notes, create a note titled Home Console.
- In the Shortcuts app, create a shortcut named Add to Console Note (or any name, entered in the widget's ⚙).
- In its details (ⓘ), turn on Use as Quick Action so it accepts text.
- Add Text (Current Date — Shortcut Input), Find Notes (Name is Home Console, limit 1), and Append to Note.
Bookmarks
Your favourite sites as buttons. The first nine get keyboard shortcuts: press 1–9 anywhere on the page (when you're not typing) to open them. Edit the list with ⚙.
Aviation Weather
For pilots: current METARs, TAFs translated into plain language, a go/no-go check against your personal minimums, and sunrise, sunset and civil twilight at your home airport.
- Home airport, latitude and longitude: used for distances, sun times and crosswind.
- Runway headings: degrees, for example
130, 310. - Reporting stations: nearby airports with weather reports. The one closest to your home airport with data drives the go/no-go check.
- Minimums: ceiling, visibility, crosswind and gusts.
Search & shortcuts
Type in the search box and press Enter to search Google, or type a web address to go straight there. Results open in a new tab. Press / to jump to the search box.
Search shortcuts send your search somewhere else. Type the shortcut, a space, then your search:
!m Google Maps | !yt YouTube | !w Wikipedia |
Add your own in Preferences → Search shortcuts. Put %s where the search words go.
Preferences
Account-wide settings that aren't tied to one widget: your places, °C/°F, light or dark theme, search shortcuts, and your account. Remember to click Save preferences.
Your account
- Forgot your password? On the sign-in page, choose "Forgot your password" and we'll email you a code.
- Sign out: Preferences → Account → Sign out.
Subscription & billing
- Free trial: 7 days from the day you create your account. No credit card needed. A banner at the top shows how many days are left.
- Price: $9.99 a year, in US dollars, or in Canadian dollars if you're in Canada. Taxes may apply.
- Subscribe: click Subscribe in the banner, or go to ⚙ Preferences → Subscription. Payment happens on Stripe's secure page; OnePane never sees your card number.
- Change your card, get receipts, or cancel: Preferences → Subscription → Manage billing. If you cancel, OnePane keeps working until the end of the year you've paid for, and you can turn renewal back on before then.
- If the trial ends or a subscription lapses: your widgets and settings are kept. Subscribe again and everything is right where you left it.
Privacy
No ads and no tracking. Your settings and notes are stored in Canada. Weather comes from Open-Meteo and aviation weather from aviationweather.gov. We look up the places you enter using OpenStreetMap. Calendar links you add are stored in your account and used only to read your events. Outlook and Google sign-ins are stored encrypted in your account, and your mail and events are passed straight to your browser without being stored. Full details are in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
