How to set your home page in Microsoft Edge
Edge keeps its start, home and new tab settings on one screen. Here's how to make it open your page. We use OnePane's address, https://onepane.page/app/, but any address works.
Open a page when Edge starts
- Click … (Settings and more) at the top right → Settings.
- Choose Start, home, and new tabs. If you don't see it, type start in the settings search box.
- Under When Edge starts, select Open these pages.
- Click Add a new page, paste the address, and click Add.
- Remove any other pages in the list you don't want, then restart Edge to check.
Add a home button
- On the same Start, home, and new tabs screen, find Home button.
- Turn on Show home button on the toolbar.
- Choose to open a specific URL, paste the address, and click Save.
Shortcut: Alt + Home takes you there from any tab.
Can the new tab page be a website?
Not in Edge's own settings. You can change the layout of Edge's new tab page with the gear icon on it (turn off the news feed, change the background), but not replace it with another site. Instead you can:
- Pin the tab (right-click → Pin tab) so your page is always open.
- Use a new tab extension from the Edge Add-ons store that opens a page you choose. Pick a well-reviewed one, since these extensions can see the tabs you open.
- At work, your IT team can set the new tab page for everyone with Edge's
NewTabPageLocationpolicy.
If it doesn't stick
- “Your browser is managed by your organization”: a work policy sets the page. Ask your IT team.
- An extension changed your page: Edge shows a notice. Go to … → Extensions and turn it off.
- Edge opens on its own after Windows starts with MSN or a “startup boost” page: turn off Startup boost in Settings → System and performance if you don't want that.
- Still wrong? Settings → Reset settings → Restore settings to their default values, then set your page again.
Edge on iPhone and Android doesn't have a startup page setting like the desktop version. See our iPhone and Android guides for the home-screen shortcut instead.
